About us

Stenson Fields Playgroup was originally started by a group of mums living in the local area. The team forged a strong link with Stenson Fields Primary School. Now nearly 32 years on, we have grown in size and have a great reputation for providing high quality care for pre-school children.

We are based in the community room at Stenson Fields Primary School and are overseen by a committee made up of current/past parents and members of staff. All parents and carers are welcome to join the committee and support our work.

We are registered to care for 24 children each session. We run eight sessions a week. The cost per session is £12.

From September 2019 we will be offering a number of full time session 9am to 3pm this will include morning and afternoon snacks and children will bring their own lunch.

We offer funded places for two, three and four year old children. Our places are offered in date of birth order. Several places are kept available for two year old government-funded children.

Members of staff
We have a minimum of five staff members per session. We sometimes have an additional member of staff if we have children with additional needs who require one-to-one care.

We are qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education, or its equivalent. We carry out regular training in first aid, health and safety, and safeguarding, plus a variety of courses that extend our knowledge and help us to provide the best care we can.

We are all highly experienced in caring and developing children’s learning as all our children have attended Stenson Fields Playgroup. As we have all been working here for many years and are local to the area, we have built up long-standing relationships with many families, some spanning more than 20 years.

Key workers
Each child is allocated a member of staff known as a key worker. This person is responsible for greeting the family on their first day, settling in, getting to know the child and their family, and recording the child’s development progress throughout their time with us.

These records are known as the child’s ‘Learning Journey’ which the family receives when the child moves on to school.

Special needs
Over the years we have worked closely with families and children who have special educational or physical needs. We are extremely proud of our work in this area. It is great to see the children move into full-time education where they have all the help they need to grow in the next phase of their development.

If you would like more information about us or to request an Enrolement form, please phone, email or pop in to the Playgroup you don’t need to make an appointment.
